Better get your 2017 report posted as 2018 is just around the corner. I have found as far as fishing it started a little slow the first of the year. I started of course my side of the lake at Little Mineral, and spent a big part it back towards the Islands. There always seemed to be the presence of birds, which always help a lot of course. I found that in cold weather, the fish seemed to be deep, 28-40 feet, which is a challenge since I fish, trolling rigs or casting Arigs. The pattern can change to fish being on ledges and points, which I love to work. My last trip, last week, I had lost the fish, Beautiful day, two people so I hit the points, but mostly smaller fish. I worked up around the Dam, and dam found a huge school of big fish. I caught one every few feet, and since it was a catch and release trip, I enjoyed it thoroughly, although I did clean some 18, smaller fish. My kind of day. I have been making my own lures, certainly in comparison to the quality Axman, makes, but dies give me a sense of pride to a degree. The soldier trip was amazing with all 25 boats getting lots of fish. Thanks to all who helped in guiding, and those on the bank, who also made it possible. I would name all them, but maybe in a later post. Anyway I think this year was a banner year, with more to come. I look forward to my 24th year on Texoma, as other than a Great Lake for fishing, the work keeps me flexible and healthy. I am in my 76 year old stage, but feel a lot younger, just working and being on beautiful Lake Texoma. See you on the water. http://www.striperfish.com. JD Dorsey

rwhich I have fished now for 3 years. The costs is high, and finished product from dealers high, so I improvise with buying the blanks (wire) from Bass Pro ($6) and make my own jigs. I do buy the heavy leaders as necessary when catching 3-4 at a time. When Axman busy I make my own jigs, or buy discount at Walmart. I like white, shad color of course, or green, and Long tails. Fish are so thick, experiment with depths. A lure retriever is a must and I keep two handy every trip. I think recently is the best fishing I have seen in years. Anyway Happy New Year to all and see you on the water.
