Went out with Thomas Powell of Loco Pescado Fishing Guide Service, his son-in-law Tony and David Jones, my next door neighbor.  Since I was out the day before, I told Thomas right where to go and what slabs to use.

We did.  We drifted for about an hour and no hits.  What a difference 24 hours makes.  [frown]

We switched to plastics and still had no luck with the fish.  Slow rolling sassys and cohos didn't work at all.

So Thomas throws out a bass assassin and started dead sticking.  Within 3 minutes, he was catching fish so we all started dead sticking and catching some nice fish.

Amazing because dead sticking usually isn't effective until the water gets down below 55F.

But........

We didn't keep any fish.  David didn't bring his cooler and Thomas would let him put fish in his clean cooler.  [smile]  I'm not sure how many fish we caught but I'd guess around 25 - 30.  Tony caught the biggest fish; 24 ".

Had a lot of fun.

NOTE:  Went out the 25th, dead sticked, could not get a hit.  They wanted to chase sassys.  Moral to the story, do like Bill Dance says "let the fish tell you what they want".

That means trying a lot of different lures and styles.  That's why I carry a minimum of 12 rods when I go out.  [smile]

My wife used to ask me why I needed 6 rods on the deck when I'd end up doing most of my fishing with one of them. I'd have to explain that I went through three rods with different setups before I found the one I'd stick with most of the time. Even then different situations would come up to necessitate the reaching for a different stick at times. Going fishing with one rod is like going golfing with one club.

Loco likes to keep his cooler clean on friends and family "free" trips, it reduces his labor costs.[smile]
Ya'll should be glad he ran the big motor and wasn't saving gas, ya'll might've had to paddle out and back.[biggrin]
