Went out early the 4th with Tom McAnish.  We left out of Highport and headed to the Island View area.  Couldn't find a concentrated group of fish in that area.  There was a boat show developing around TI Point so we headed over there.  Several boats were on anchor fishing bait.  Never did see them catch anything in the 10 minutes we hung around.

Lots of folks trolling in that area as well but we didn't see anyone catching anything.  I finally got hooked up used a 1.0 ounce Ghost Minnow...but stupid me..and not set the drag so when I went to set the hook, I almost fell outta the boat. 😉  I have a habit of backing off my drag and pulling the line out when I'm changing lures.....this time, I forgot to reset the drag.  So I missed what I'm thinking was a 20 pound striper. 😉

We headed over to the Cross area and Caney Creek. Pretty much the same story.  The fish were scattered.  We drifted in 65 fow slabbing at fish at 35 feet.  I had one strike but that was it.

Came back out to mid lake about 9 a.m.  Fish were busting all over the place on the surface.  Tom was throwing a plastic lure and the fish he was catching were all of 9 inches.  😉

I got two on slabs but they fell off at the boat.  Thank goodness.  😉

We came in at 10 a.m.  A tough day for sure
