This year 2017, Operation Welcome Home event is scheduled for November 3, 4 and 5th of November. It is almost the same format as all the earlier years, although I wanted to put it in writing the exact schedule for all events of this year:Please contact Jerry Dorsey if you can help out. My home church is furnishing the lunch after the fishing and the main fare is pulled pork and brisket!!
November 3, Friday, the VFW 7873 will again serve dinner at its lakeside facility, at 7pm. At this time also soldiers and guides will be assigned guides for fishing the morning of
November 4. There will be a short program, as previous years. Shirts and hats will be handled out to all involved in the event.
November 4, Saturday morning, 6:30am, breakfast burritos will be served at Little Mineral
Resort, where soldiers will be boarding their respective boats. Please wear your Operation
Welcome Home, caps and shirts. Boats will depart no later than 7:30am, and return no later than 11:15 am.
After fish are cleaned, everyone is to proceed to Georgetown Baptist Church, for
BBQ lunch, prepared by them. Lunch will be served starting at 12:30.
November 4, that evening dinner will be prepared by The Elks 238 where closing ceremony, will be held.
Each participant, is to attend all festivities, and show a proud “thank you”, to each facility, for their contribution to the entire event. We appreciate your attendance, and hope you all had a wonderful time at this event, set up solely as a “thank you for service”.
