I went out yesterday afternoon and set jugs.  Loco Pescado had suggested I try using Earl Campbell hot links instead of Lil Smokies.  So I did.

I was disappointed this morning when I ran my jugs. I only had a couple of catfish but both were good 5 pounders.

There are a couple of things I attribute the poor showing to:

1.  I might have fished too deep (40 - 45 fow)
2.  I might have fished too shallow (I saw jugs with fish on them in the middle of the river in 50 fow)
3.  It might be that Texoma catfish don't like Earl Campbell
4.  Loco told me that it was probably because I put them out where there was too much bait.  That could be it because I was marking fish on the bottom and they were surrounded by bait fish.
5.  I saw on FB where Eddie Sparks and his guys were doing good on catfish in 14 to 24 fow. So I prolly should put some jugs closer in.

But, God blessed me with dinner tonight so I'm thankful.  But it sure is a lotta work putting out all those jugs for two fish.  [smile]  [smile]

You should only use Earl Cambell hot links on the Texas side.  On the Oklahoma side, use some links from Billy Sims Barbecue.
