Went back to the honey hole yesterday with Joe and Gabriel Head.

Funny but the sand bass didn't really want to play much.  They moved in but then went right out.

I dropped a secret color 0.5 ounce coho with a pearl and blue body down.  Within 2 minutes, I could see a big hybrid come up and grab it.  The fight lasted about 10 seconds and he broke off the leader......I couldn't get a hit after that on plastics so I tied on a 1 ounce ReAxtion Lures slab.  That did the trick.  The Paokie fish (drum) and the sandies likes that more.  Even caught about a 3 pound blue cat on it.

To salvage the day, we started using cut bait off the drum we were catching.  That turned the day around.  Brought out the heavy artillery and hammered the catfish.

Another great day with the guys.

We wound up with 3 big crappie, 13 sand bass and 9 catfish. image1.JPG  IMG_1442.JPG

Afterwards they took me to Pedro's Mexican Restaurant in Pilot Point.  Very good food.  I had a brisket taco and it was great!!!

Lake Ray Roberts is currently about 8 feet above normal.  But the water is pretty clear.  I'm taking the yak down next week and will put in at Buck Creek ramp.  Water is too high for boats to get to it via the lake because it's about 2 feet below the road way and rail road track.

Hope to get some fish back there that are hungry.  [smile]

No visible injuries mainly because I use the handicap ramp and not the steps.  [smile]  [smile]

Joe Head caught this one Friday.  Great fish and fight.  He caught him on a crappie rod with a crappie jig.  A 20 minute fight.  Very entertaining.  [smile] IMG_1482.JPG
