Launched at High Port at 8:30 a.m.  Beautiful day!

On board I had perch for catfish bait, range cubes to attract catfish, perch rib cages to feed catfish, Lil Smokies for catfish, slabs of all sizes and colors, Tail Zingers, sassy shads, cohos, Horse Head jigs, Umbrella rig, Hell Pet, 2 bags of pretzels, 2 packages of cheese crackers, and 3 Diet Cokes.

I was set and feeling good.  Idled out of the marina.  Beautiful Day!!

Headed to my jugging territory and threw out about 15 pounds of range cubes.  Marked lots of fish in 40 feet of water hugging the bottom.  I just knew these were 10 pound blues.

Headed up to a channel cat fishing hole off the tip of North Island.  Marked a lot of fish in 25 feet of water.  I just knew there were nice channel cats.  Threw out about 15 pounds of range cubes and dropped in some fish guts.

Left the area and went looking for stripers and sand bass.  Drifted the flats from North Island all the way to the creek off Long Point.  Not a hit on anything.  Wind was from the east so I turned The Beast into the  wind and decided to troll back to the channel cat hole.

Put out a DD22, a Tail Zinger, an Umbrella rig, and a Hell Pet.  Trolled prolly for 3 miles or so.  Was getting back into 20 feet of water so I started pulling rigs in.  Had them all in and I see my Hell Pet rod get a slight twitch.  Reeled it in and had a 6" striper.

Navigated to the channel cat waypoint and marked a lot of stuff on the bottom.  I rigged two rods with Lil Smokies and 2 rods with perch.  I sat there for about an hour.  I had two pull downs.  Both came on Lil Smokies.

Navigated to the blue cat waypoint and marked a lot of stuff on bottom.  I had two pull downs.  Both on Lil Smokies.  I did however catch a 7 pound stump.  I fought it all the way to the top and landed it safely.

Let it go back so another angler could enjoy it.

The 10# leader did a good job.  [smile]

I headed down to Sand Bass Pass and looked around.  The lake is dropping and the end of the islands are just about 3 inches under water.  If you aren't careful, you'll get beached.

The depths around the islands have changed.  Where my Navionics chip says it should be 15 feet, it is now 5.  I think the sand shifted.

Went down to the island formerly known as Molokini and marked good fish.  Slabbed and threw Tail Zingers.  No takers.

Went to the cut between Wood and West.  Slabbed and threw Tail Zingers.  No takers.

Went to the Glory Hole down by Buncombe.  Put out four rods with Lil Smokies.  Sat for about an hour.  Two nibbles on Lil Smokies.  Slabbed and threw Tail Zingers.  No takers.

Went to check out Gravy Train Cove.  It was baited recently so I had high hopes.Put out four rods with Lil Smokies.  Sat for about 15 minutes.  Two nibbles on Lil Smokies.  Slabbed and threw Tail Zingers.  No takers.

Went down to Goose Island.  Found a lot of fish stacked up on the SW corner of the trough.  Slabbed and threw plastics.  No takers.

By this time is was 4 p.m.  I was outta snacks.  Down to my last Diet Coke.  And sunburned.

I hoisted the white flag and came home.

It was a great day on the water.  The fishing sucked.  Come on October!!!

You get a capital E for EFFORT!  I sure am looking forward to seeing pics and hearing stories of big stripers again.  But I still enjoy your reports.  Keep it up Ax!

I'm thinking you could have saved the stump, dried it, sanded, put a little urethane on it hung a couple of used lures on and sold it for $30 or $29 or $28.....

Didn't know you had surgery!!  Get well soon.  Lifting 15# should be sufficient!!

Thanks for the release of the tree bass. In the past those were really rare at Texoma but with the flood I am afraid we'll be over run with them.
