I have been a die hard Lews fan along time. Recently I got an Ardent Elite bait caster 7.3:1 gears and I will say this: cheaper than my Lews very smooth working not as smooth as my Lews, EXCELLENT DRAG, cast as far or possible farther than my Lews, over all an excellent reel I would very much recommend.
All tested on TFO Tactical rods identical.
It will just be a matter of time before I have another, my Ardent did need to be lubed some and made a huge difference, all tested spooled with Gliss #40 line which is all I now use on everything, (8# dia).

I have not got to try an Ardent rod. TFO hard to beat.
Leaving for a PM trip now will report later.

Zoom in on scales! Carlos 1st striper on my boat.

Jordon some were shipped NON LUBED I was told by them by accident, also if it is a grinding like teeth not dis engaging on gears while casting there is possible a bad release gear spring, if lube don't fix it sent it back they have a full no BS 3 yr warranty with very fast turn around.

My favorite reels are a Calcutta with Boca bearings. Next are Ambassador 500, Penn Jigmaster, and Squidder.
