I fished today and saw little to no birds feeding on shad? Any idea why we wouldn't see tons of birds feeding on the tons of available shad? Do birds only feed on shad injured by feeding stripers?

Probably because they are already so full of shad they can't fly.
I'm afraid Texoma is like Pk. The bigger stripers left for the river and fishing is tough. I caught about 6 dozen threadfins in one cast yesterday and did not boat a single legal fish all day. I only threw back maybe six of them. I caught stripers from 6 to 14 inches (18 legal at Pk), Largemouth from 8-14 inches (16 inches at Pk), Sandbass from 6-9 inches ( lots of those buggers) perch, and small catfish. Normally I get a few drum too but none of those yesterday. Something was biting my threadfins in half a lot. I guess it was small gar. Lost a lot that way. I think I'm going to Texoma tomorrow. maybe I can find a few crappie.

Saw a lot of gulls sitting on the water yesterday off North Island. I eased over to them and they never flew off. They were sitting on a huge bait ball. Not a singe fish was marked around the bait ball. Very frustrating.

Saw the same thing today. I flock of gulls were working a humongous bait ball that went from the bottom at 17 feet up to the surface. No game fish around, though.
