What size for 6"+ gizzard? Inline or offset? Read that some bodies of water offset is not allowed.

For rod fishing I prefer team catfish double-action. For shad that big I would use the 8/0. 
They are offset and are a great hook, I have lots of confidence in them. I use the 5/0 for smaller baits. Never use anything smaller than that. Cats are not hook shy.

For jugs I go with a comparable size and use a cheaper hook. I been using eagle claw 9/0 and using a vise and pliers to bend a bit of offset in them. They work good as well but get the stainless if you can find them the regular ones rust real quick

Thats just what I do, everyone has their on preferences. But I found this works for me.
