Seriously, down at the dam. Top water bite started about 0600 and ended about 0645 Saturday morning, right about the time I took a 3/0 hook into the middle finger on the right hand. Had to cut the hook off, and then push the barb out the other side. Kind of hard without anything to deaden it. Oh well, caught a few more after that and then it shut down. It was combat fishing just like old times, but everyone played well together out there just having fun.

White 4" Zara Spook with 3/0 saltwater hooks did the trick for me, right up on the rocks.

I estimate we caught about 15 or so each, with all returned for future catching trips. Large box fish and some overs. All really strong and healthy, which is why I spent some time doing self service surgery...

I just hope I don't get like Axman :-)

Hey Boxman, I heard from a friend about those fish at the dam Sat. Went out Sunday morn. to check it out and they never showed while we were there. Thanks for the report. Ihave a method on hook removal involving several wraps of string in the bend of the hook. Hold the hook at the same angle it entered the skin. Give a real hard fast yank and its out so quick you don't feel much. Of course the larger the barb the less effective this is.

Where have the schools of big fish gone? Last week we were marking large schools of very large fish from the Dam to Little mineral, and the fishing was really good. Yesterday and today we traveled from East Burns to T.I. Point and we did not mark a single school of big fish. Caught a few dinks but that was all.

I am hoping someone knows. I haven't been out since Saturday. On a flight from Cincinnati at the moment.

Yeah hang in there! I also believe in that saying, "A man's gotta do, what a man's gotta do".

Kahuna,

I heard those words shortly after posting. Hearing it too much these days. I would rather hear more "fish on!"... 😉
