Went to venice louisiana with couple new friends.  Did well.  Target was yellowfin.   We caught yellowfin tuna, black fin tuna, amberjack, red snapper, barricuda etc.  Fished shelf rigs at 300 feet to floater rigs in 6000 feet of water.  Jigs, live bait, chunks, topwaters worked day and night.  Pulled 4 over night trips 24-30 hours each.  Ultimate fishing!

Good Stuff Right There !!! [thumb]

Venice sounds like THE fishing destination for inshore and offshore, never been there, but maybe one day.
Glad you had some fun trips.....Thanks for sharing.[smile]

Thanks!
Still learning but we do well!
Sad that Texoma has been down. One flood is the usual but 3 in 2 years or so. It will be back.
Always looking for good people to share cost on ocean fishing. I have to weed out the smokers drinkers and party people. My primary goal is 50-100 miles offshore after tuna. We do not chase redfish etc. Don't hit inshore much at all. The only reason we caught inshore fish this trip is because some tuna were in closer. We checked the area and went out further. Usually blackfin and yellowfin and mahi in summer. We stay out 24-30 plus hours if weather allows. Use lots of fuel but overnighters do help.

Anyone on here who wants to do inshore redfishing. You can use your Striper rig to get those waters. Even bass boats. Once you try saltwater you'll ask why the hell am I fishing freshwater. It will spoil you. I've caught 180 Stripers at Texoma. I've caught Stripers to 57 lbs in Tennessee and catfish to 70 all on rod n reel. Nothing compares to the thrill and power of saltwater fish!!!!!! It's the bomb.
