I’ve been not able to catch fish under 25 inches the last few times out. Not saying I catch big fish every time out but the last few trips where I caught fish, they were big.
I’d rather catch 10 good eating size fish than sit out there all day long and maybe catch 1 big fish.
Anyway, launched Sunday afternoon about 4 or so. Mark Mac and Jimmy were coming in as I was going out. They had caught some nice fish.
As I was motoring out of Highport I saw Dales Moses cruising around. With so many big fish being caught, he is out checking fish boxes….which is a good thing.
I have been playing around with a new color bubble belly and dying the tails different colors. I think I found what the fish wanted, for one day at least.
I started marking fish off the point at Mill Creek and had fish on within the first 3 minutes. I was dead sticking and drifting about 0.4 mph. Fish were in 50 feet of water suspended about 35 to 40 feet.
Caught quite a few smaller fish.
Was going to head home and passed a boat show at Sand Bass Pass. It was almost dark so I pulled over to see what I could see.
Good many fish off the ledge and they were focused in one depth only. If you moved either way on the ledge (shallower or deeper), the fish were gone.
I used the same ‘secret’ bubble belly. Guys next to me were catching zero. I woulda given them some of the green ice but I didn’t have any more……so they had to watch (I’ve been there before).
Brought home my 10 eaters. No big fish that day. Thank goodness.
Thinking about adding the green ice to the web site but I'm outta stock.
