I can report that I will be hitting all my old favorite spots, as I have caught big fish, and good box fish, so no excuses, that they are not biting.   The fish I am targeting, are like they were when I was running all last year, hitting the shallows, no I am not any where close to the river channels, or around any other boats.   I am not sure what the weather this weekend will bring, but I suggest if you like to fish, and want to catch some good fish, with just a little knowledge of catching stripers, you should do well.  If any guides out there start to run their spring patterns, they are there, not every spot, but at some of the favorites, from the 377 bridge to Washita Point.  I have covered these areas in three days, so dont try to do it all in one day.    JD     CrossCreek Guide Service. 010.JPG

How shallow is shallow.  I had put the rigs up for winter and was dead
sticking in 47 ft of water today.

I might add that the fish as far as I see, are schooled pretty good, and I had to look a lot to find the schools.  Once you find them, its on.   I have run several miles looking, and there are a lot more empty spots than schooled.   Yesterday I got box fish in 22 foot of water, and big fish as I came off that depth onto the ledges, deeper water, say 30 feet.   My fish have ran from 17 lbs, to 10-8 lbs, and yesterday took some smaller fish home to eat, letting all the big fish returned unharmed.    I am going to make a dvd, as I get lots of calls about how to use the rigs, etc.   It will not be like the one on my fb page, that one was for a joke.   I spend a lot of money on the rigs, the last shipment cost me over $600, but I have everything from Lure retrievers, jigs, rigs, tails, you name it.  I do occasional sell some....My mancave which is well locked, looks like a tackle store, as I also make some of my own jigs, but they are certainly not as nice as Axman or Capt Mack, but they work.   I look forward to a good year, hope everyone does the same, so see you on the water.   JD
