I put out my jugs yesterday afternoon and picked them up this morning.  I'm still using Lil Smokies as the water temperature is around 65 F or so.  As it gets warmer, they won't stay on the hook.....

Caught a nice mess.  Biggest cat was 5 pounds.  Just right.  Put the jugs from 40 to 50 fow along the river ledge on the TX side.  Didn't wanna poach Kahuna's fish.....

I caught three on one jug line.....it'll take me a while to straighten out the line. [smile]

Nice work Joe. What do you think happen to your other jugs? Big fish drag them off or someone help themselves to your fish and property.

Joe, I take my left over shad and dry them in the sun with a heavy coating of salt. I them mix them in cornmeal and freeze. When the smokies won't stay on the hook, just use a dried shad and if packed in cornmeal, they are easy to get just one or two out at a time. BTW the dried shad work great. Mudman (Richard Price) taught this to me many years ago.

You HAVE to use Hillshire's Lil Smokies.  [smile]  No generic brand.  [smile]

That's a great tip Pancho!!!  I'll try it.

Joe Slab, I'm getting a bit suspicious.  I have fished that area for going on two years now. I never lost a jug (except one that was run over  [frown]).  But here lately, every time I put them out, I lose at least one.  Not sure what the lose rate is on jugs.

I think I did lose one to a big fish.  My neighbor spotted it out in the middle of the river, a boat came by, the jug bobbed up and down, disappeared.  We looked for it for an hour almost.  No jug.

I don't mind losing the jug.  I just don't want a big fish to possibly die before the hook rusts.  I don't keep any kitty over 10 or 15 pounds so you'd think they'd just let me take 'em off the hook.  [smile]
