Can'ya still buy Mrs. Tuckers Shortening?
I'm assuming the Tucker Family had a place at the lake, hence Tuckers Cove?

I used to add a little shortening into my oil for fish fry's...now we've gone all "healthy" I've been instructed Canola Oil only...geeez.

I'll never make Pro...I'm doomed to always be an Amateur Fryer...
I don't even know what a Canola is....how can it be any healthier than a Peanut?

Maybe someday I'll get to "wear the pants" on Fry Oil Selection....[smile]

Ax is gettin' serious on these locations...
I figured we'd have to learn about the Cheeseburger Hole through WikiLeaks...[smile]

Peanut oil can be heated to a higher temperature without smoking, and it tastes better.

I'm hitting an overweight 73 years old with perfectly good heart (echo test proved) and spent the first 40 years or so eating many many fillets of various fish fried in bacon grease strained thru cheesecloth. Can't get anything better to fry in. Spent many great trips up into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in MN and we lived for several days on fish, potatoes, onions, all fried in bacon grease. Feel sad that so many "healthy" kids today will never know the joys of eating without worrying about all the things that reverberate through social networks and TV and radio. When we had a pile of Texoma fillets we deep fried them in Canola Oil and baked the bigger ones with our Mayonaisse recipe. They were great but still not the taste of the bacon fried fish we used to eat.
