Shane had a good outing.
I have seen reports from channel 4 OKC reporting the lake is closed. They done the interview at Soldier Creek Marina. Reports Like this can hurt a lot of guides. These are just the Marinas that are closed not the lake.  Fishing is as good as it gets right now.

I saw that KFOR piece on Solider Creek and it just made known that this Memorial Day will not be like in the past. No camping or boating because of the flooding. Seems to me that the guides should be busy because of no boat traffic to compete with.

Some stations reported Texoma closed several years ago with the blue/green algae scare that the Corps started.
Makes a person wonder how much other news we see is BS

Makes a person wonder how much other news we see is BS[/QUOTEthat's for sure. You can't have a good story without making it gloom& doom. Seems most of the time by the time the story is told it's not even close to the truth. Grandpa used to say: " Never believe what you hear and only half of what you see". That definitely the case with news media. I hope the guides have a great holiday and their clients catch a ton of fish.[smile]

Sure hope the dismal forecast for rain accumulation in the Red River Basin for the next four days that the news channels in OKC  predicted this evening is BS or at least waaay off.  Between tonight and through Monday, they are saying to expect up to six inches of rain in that drainage area.

Really had a thread of hope that with the inflow slowly tapering off and the releasing of water, maybe just maybe the lake pool elevation would be suppressed enough to possibly fall short of the 640 mark without much more rain and gradually begin to enter the receding stage.

Rainfall in Oklahoma historically peaks in the first two weeks in June.  If history repeats itself this year, I only hope that it avoids those areas that feed into the Red and Washita for the sake of a quick recovery for the Texoma community and economy.

Hopefully those who rely upon booking a guide are not discouraged and are reading the reports being posted that fish are being caught and will continue to be caught during the abnormal conditions as most of those who guide for a living have proven in the past that they possess the experience and tenacity needed to adapt to the adversity with great success.

Heck, for those who own a boat and normally do their own thing including myself, maybe some consideration should be given to spending some of the money we normally would spend at this time to fish on the lake and book a guide to support their needs and help fill some of the voids in their schedule resulting from the high water.  Just a thought...

Boats always draw more boats. I guess cars are drawing more cars
Or else avid fishermen that can't get onto the lake right now & just gotta fish.

I just called the number and a woman answered, I asked her about the news reporting Lake Texoma is closed. She transfered me to "news". Spoke with Mark. I told him the lake was NOT closed, some marinas have closed. Some fishing guides are still guiding fishing trips and some marinas are accomodating customers the best they can.

Not closed? That's good news. What ramps are open? What campgrounds are open?

Plan ahead, just park your trailer at the edge of the water and it will rise to float your boat.
