I watched a piece on YouTube that I thought was really interesting and I am going to try it.

Take lil smokies or weenies and put them in a zip lock bag.  Add a packet of strawberry jello to them.  Don't have to add water as the juice from the meat will be "drawn" out by the jello.  The meat will turn a bright red.

Another option is to also add garlic powder in the mix.  The color is not totally red but will help attract the kitty fish.  Hope to try it soon.

I tried the strawberry / garlic combination.  Left the jugs in the water for 5 hours and caught 11 kitty fish from 2 to 4 pounds.  I guess they like it!!!

Maybe they hated it, and were showing displeasure by biting it?

May have to try that concoction down here on my next jug lining trip. Tried gizzard and blue gill recently with sparse luck.
High water, and releasing water, seems to have the fish all messed up

So, have we decided whether "treated" smokies are better than plain?

How long do you leave little smokeys in jello

I just don't see how any prepared baits can beat natural, fresh caught shad.
