The take a soldier fishing trip, Operation-Welcome Home is set for November 3, 4, and 5, on Lake Texoma.  It appears I have bitten off more than I can chew, as usual, as I have increased the soldier count to 125.  I did this to accommodate some soldiers from Ft Irwin in California, and Ft Polk La., who wanted to come fishing also.   I already had Ft Hood, Ft. Sill, Shepherd AFB, and Tinker AFB.   I am lining up boats to fish the soldiers on the 5th, and if anyone wants to take some soldiers fishing, I could use the help.  So far, I have 20 boats, with guides, signed up, and need approximately 10 more boats.   Let me know if can help.  The boats need to be where it can safely carry 4 persons, with all the safety equipment, and fishing tackle.    I am also looking for donations, which can pay for, something for the guides, and pay for lodging, food, and drinks.   Believe me it is a worthy cause, as regardless, we will take all the soldiers fishing, if we have to do two trips, to get it done.   If you care to donate money, please send a check or money order to JD Dorsey, Operation-Welcome Home.  (305 Pecan Place Ln., Pottsboro, Texas 75076.  We are supported not only by the guides, but have donations from Rabern Rentals; Mike and Evelyn Tennyson;  Reed's Cabinet Shop; Georgetown Baptist Church; Tanglewood Resort; Little Mineral Resort;  Vietnam Veterans Assn.; American Legion 231;  Combat Warriors of San Antonio; VFW 7873; Elks Lodge 238;
and several others.  It is the same criteria, as last year, arrival on the 4th, and lodging assigned; VFW 7873, dinner that night.  Fishing early on the 5th, and barbque dinner afterwards, and the evening event has not yet be decided, and homebound on the 6th.  Please pray for the success of this event, and safe travels for our military.   And may everyone catch a lot of fish.  I will get out a list soon on all the guides who are donating a boat for this event.  Thanks, Jerry Dorsey.

Operation Welcome update....

            The event this year continues to grow, and I have kept the number of soldiers thus far, at 120, with 27 guides helping.   Those guides are:  Cole and Jason Cook, Mike Scott, Colt Brust, Steve Thompson, Tim Hall, David Mitchell, Mike Blakely, Coy Devoll, Britt McKinney, Howard Judd, Dennis Curtis, Thomas Powell, Axman, Alan Webster, Steve French, Guy Martinez, Nick Abate, Robert Fahey, Donnie Charnel, Dan Hands, Booger Holmes, Jeff BoBo, John Beavers, Lee Scott, and myself.  Still Need a couple if anyone interested.   The event kicks off with dinner at the VFW 7873, 7pm November 3, welcome soldiers, dine and drink;  Breakfast Burritos 6:30a, November 4, then depart and fish until 11am, then lunch at Georgetown Baptist, Bobby Hancock, 12 :15, with special speaker; and dinner at the Elks 238, lakeside.   It is all supported by small donations, and guides who give their day to the soldiers free, and organizations who welcome them, and thank them for their service.   Any donations can be sent to me, JD Dorsey, made out to Operation-Welcome Home.  This site, SOG, has many followers who serve as guides and contribute to the event, in one way or another.  Our weather looks favorable this weekend, and we look for a great time for all.   IMG_1061.JPG  IMG_1060.JPG
