I wanted to share a positive review/experience with a very inexpensive product.

I recently took a stroll through Cabelas and saw the Cabelas Pro Guide IM6 / Agility Spinning Combo on sale for $29.99.  Regular price is $49.99. I bought one on an impulse and didn't expect too much. The first one I bought was the smaller 6' rod with the Shakespeare Agility AG30 reel.

The reel features 5 bearings with a 5.2.1 gear ratio.   The reel has a balanced rotor and can be used right or left handed.  The rod has a IM6 graphite blank and graphite reel seat and has quality cork contoured handles.

Initially I really liked how it felt in my hands. It would be used for crappie and trout and was the perfect size for 6-10 lb line.  It is perfectly balanced with a light tip and strong back bone. After several trips I love this combo so much I feel like I stole it for $30.  I've landed dozens of fish with it and even a couple of 3-4 lb catfish and drum and some nice rainbow trout.  I've fished live bait with it and artificial lures where casting was involved.  I've used 1/16 oz jigs with it on 6 lb test and it handles great even with the light stuff. The drag is ultra smooth and has been flawless so far.  The drag has a nice audible ring to it that makes it easy to judge when the fish is pulling line. I can't brag enough about the reel.  After many trips out I have not had one single tangle and I'm on the original spool of line (6lb trilene xl). The rod is ultra sensitive and very comfortable in my hand. Even the lightest nibbles are easily detected.

Sure there are much higher quality spinning set ups out there. But for $29.99 I would put this rig up against anything less than $100.  I have been so pleased with it I stopped in Cabelas Friday and bought another one with a 6-1/2 ft rod and same reel.  I'll rig this one up with McCoys 10lb line and use it for my lighter bass fishing finesse type rigs.

If you are in need of a nice spinning rig and don't want to spend the big bucks treat yourself to the Cabelas Pro Guide IM6 / Agility Spinning Combo. I can't find anything negative to report about it.

Ax  I have a pond full of blue gill and bass.  Over the years I've purchased several "cheap" rod and reel combos for lighter fishing needs like for my pond and the occasional trip to a trout stream or a night out crappie fishing every now and then.  I usually regret wasting my money on them because more times than not they fail very quickly and its just a waste.  But this little combo so far is getting it done and smooth as silk.  I saw the reel alone at Academy for $29 but I would go for the combo at Cabelas.  The 6' rod would be perfect for your bream fishing.  It's a nice rod with a great feel.

I spent it online.   [smile]  My experience with the Cabela's in Allen TX is that they NEVER have what I go in for and if they do, they have one.  Academy is getting to be the same way.............

It was a great rod until I rolled the window up on it.....

Bought an ultra light Ugly Stick to use with the reel.
