I've been bummed out not getting to launch......cabin fever, a honey do list that won't stop......etc.
Was sitting in the crib pondering things. Had just gotten back from casting off the bank for stripers. Pretty frustrating as shad were popping the surface just out of my 'reach'. I noticed that I had a few rod holders left over from when I sold the Sea Pro. Put a different style on the new Beast. Redneck juices started flowing. I started fabricating. Wife shaking her head........ Redneck rod holder on my Ranger. It ain't pretty but I think it'll work. Loaded up the next morning and headed down to the bluff (off the Big Mineral peninsual). Backed her up (careful not to back to far) and set out my rods. Walked around a bit looking at the bank closer. Gotta watch your step. John Brett says this is a water snake and they don't bite hard. Fished for a couple of hours. I ate all my Lil Smokies the night before so I used earthworms and some bait shrimp I bought at Brookshires. Blackened the big one for dinner and had blackened catfish tacos! Yum Yum. Sorta weird but when I fish jugs, I have only caught 2 channel cats in the past two years. Bank fishing I catch more channel cats than blues.....is that telling me that channels prefer more shallow water??

Nice set up Joe, If/when I can get back into Cedar Mills, I am dying to go fishing, even if it is off my boat slip, usually about 9' of water under my boat, probably about 38" ft of water right now, I figure little smokies will work wonders
