Put in at HP around 5PM and looked west to BM. Nothing. Worked back to SB pass. Nothing. Saw birds working around the southern part of north island.....and.....BIG TAIL SPLASHES! That was so good to see again as it has been quite a while since I have seen 7" shad flying out of the water. The big stripers were killing it and we had a blast. We only caught about 10 each because it took so long to get them to the boat, in the boat, and then back in the water. The other fish were literally splashing water into the boat as we were pulling them in. It was like old times and really great to see. What was odd is that they would only hit small lures on top and/or small shallow lures. Big chug bugs and pencil poppers produced almost nothing. This is strange when we saw so many big shad flying around. We did catch a few large sand bass while we are at it. All fish returned healthy and ready to fight again. Need to go getcha sum...

Thanks Axman. It is easy to be a "hero" these days....as someone of old used to say. I wonder if he still reads any of this...

Nice! Did the lake level come up much? Im in Texas panhandle, and looks like lots of rain fell west and north of the lake.
