Went out of Highport around 5PM and headed west. Tried the north shore just east of Buncombe and it seemed lifeless. Not a bird, boat, or....fish. Water was stained and didn't hold any life from what we could see. I look over towards Boy Scout, and birds working everywhere. Headed over there and it was on for the next two hours or so. We caught sand bass and good box sized stripers on everything from rattletraps, sassy shad, square bill crankbaits, pencil poppers, and some weird bright green plastic topwater lure my buddy had. Caught some of the biggest sand bass I have ever seen. I would estimate we caught 30 to 40 between the two of us. All fish returned in good health, except their mouth may be a little sore today :-). Slowed down about 7:45PM or so, so we headed back to the ramp and had a great burger at the Island. It was just like fishing, no one around but us and a very few others. It was eerie how few people were on and around the lake. Had the place to ourselves.
