I've been reading through these posts and see where folks "tie this on" or "put that on" 18"-24" above or below etc.....  to get two lures on the line.
My question is are swivels still being used in these situations?  When do you not use a swivel and instead just "tie it on"?

I know when trolling swivels are a must to try and eliminate twisting the line.

Also, are shiny brass swivels/hooks now considered a distraction or attraction.  I grew up with them and now I am seeing various colors of both.

Thanks to all for their input.
I think everyday I am learning something new on this site.

Remember the knot is the weak link in the line. More knots, more weak spots.

in my case the weakest link may be on the other end of the line... [wink]
I can't wait until the boat is finished and I can get back out on the water.

Bandit,
Can you attach a lure, hook etc.; without using a knot? I agree that a knot is the weakest link. What is your solution?

I typically use a dropper loop to tie on a teaser above the slab.

Like you said, always use swivels when trolling.

I use swivels with live bait when fishing for stripers and for catfish.
