Well, picked up The Beast this past Saturday.  Haven’t had time to launch her yet.  Thomas Powell brought up his Mako and we fished out of it the past couple of outings.  The Beast tows well and I can tell it’s lighter than the Sea Pro was for sure.

I’m reading up on the manuals now and can’t wait to launch.  I’m adding additional guides to the trailer and laying out the interior to determine optimum rod holder positions.

Purchased from Blackbeard Marine.  Easiest boat purchase I've ever made.  Great folks to deal with.

It's the G3 V322F model.  Fishing stations and live wells at bow and stern.  150 hp, 4 stroke Yamaha.  84 pound thrust Minn Kota iPilot.  I transferred my Lowrance HDS 10 from the Sea Pro to the G3.

The G3 does not have a VHF radio but it does have an Alpine stereo with bluetooth!!  [smile]

Oh yeah...striper fishing on the lake while listening to AC/DC.  [smile]

When Mama says: we're buying the blue one! It does make the buying "easier"

Yeah.....Ax wanted RED.  Kathy wanted BLUE.  We bought blue.  [smile]  [smile]

Thanks for the comments.  I'm looking forward to putting her in the water.

I bought some tail end guides for the trailer that I'm going to install.

I'm studying the layout now for optimization.  Maybe I could develop a software package for the project and sell that.  [smile]

A friend of mine has recommended Bee Reedy (or Bee Ready) rod holders.

Has anyone used these before??  The look slick but are $20 a pop.

I already have 6 Quick Draw holders but I'll have to do some engineering to get them to fit the tritoon railings.

AX,

This may help or give you an idea on something you can rig up or get made for your toon.
I just ordered 1 to try for mine but haven't received it yet.
I Have heard good things and there's no drilling.

I am going to order some bee ready single rod holders in the wide model for one of my tritoons. I can get them online from the maker..I think I can drill two holes in the rail and use the free gunwhale mounts,,, and wingnuts,,, and I can move them easily. ..they should swing inline with the rail so they won't stick in or out of the boat..they are easy to use, fast and secure...I am goig to have 6 or 8 on each side of my boat...

Bandit,
When you are AX, aka, known as Ahab the Arab, what is a tank of gas?[rolleyes] Maybe he should rename the 'Beast'. Clyde comes to mind.[biggrin]

I remember years ago when I first got my new boat and went to fill it up. It took two credit cards to do the job.

Perty pontoon indeed! Only thing the beast is missing is a little bit of catfish slime, lil' smokie juice, a few shad scales, some ding dong crumbs and a spilled diet coke, then she'll be officially broken in.  Gotta give Kathy credit on her choice of blue instead of red.  Think about it... Have you ever heard of "red" catfish?

BE SURE you crank the stereo waaay up when you're fishing near Paokie because he swears by the fact that the loud music (especially AC/DC) will bring the fish to you, especially when the bite is slow.

As far as rod holders, I would stick with the Quickdraws.  I personally despise having to pull the rod forward to get it out of the holder to set the hook, especially if the butt end has any length to it.  Much easier just to pull straight back and have the rod free from obstruction.

What day has the official christening been scheduled for?

The Beast made it's maiden voyage last week.  Loco, George Pratt, and Pat McKannan were on board.  We caught no stripers but we sure enjoyed not catching fish.

Still in the 10 hour break in period with the Yammie.

I haven't mounted the Bee Ready rod holders yet.  Patrick gave me three holders that each have 3 Bee Readys on them.

I'm in the stage of fishing prior to hanging stuff on the boat.  Loco Pescado tends to critique me rather hard so I'm thinking things through.

Will mount the trolling motor next trip (quick release) to see how it does.  It should do pretty well.  It's an 84 pound iPilot.  Same power as was on the Sea Pro.  Sea Pro was heavier so the TM would pull me along pretty well.

Haven't had it out on a windy day yet.  I'm sure I'll need to throw out that big ol Cabela's drift sock.  [smile]

Bled catfish in the rear livewell prior to putting them in the ice chest.  That was a great idea.  Cleaning the catfish was practically bloodless.

Designing an anchor holder for the front of the boat.  I bought a 14 pound Danforth for the Beast.  It'll take that to hold it I'm sure.  [smile]

I've unloaded and loaded on the trailer now twice.  So far, piece of cake.  I purposefully ran it on the trailer crooked last time and the guides on the trailer popped the logs right into the bunks perfectly.

Again, haven't tried that in the wind.  Getting the tritoon aligned with the trailer is certainly more difficult than the Sea Pro was but once you line up, it's easy loading.

Can't back the trailer in too far is the key I think with tritoons.
