It's on!!!!!!!! Went out yesterday morning early with friends Roger Brown and Mark Johnson
and found success throwing chug bugs along rocks and windy points . Great to enjoy the top water action with friends.

That's great, looking forward to trying to get some my self.  Not many things more exciting than watching a big striper blow up on your lure.

I will second that, but the bite at sunset was better for me than at sunrise.

Went out with friends off the banks of a rocky point on OK side, east part of lake, at sunset on Saturday 5/5 . I used a chrome with black back pencil poper bout 6inches long with what sounded like a lot of metal beads inside to add noise. I was getting bites nonstop for about 45 minutes. I landed 2 overs, lost two, lost a lure after not retying, lots of tail slaps and blow ups. My friends landed 3. Biggest was around 8-10lbs. Farther the cast the better. I could see a massive school just outside my reach, but the noisey lure brought them in. I lost that lure and switched to pencil poper with white belly and blue back, but was not noisey enough for them as it didn't land any. They are consistent right now as my neighbors have made similar reports for past few weeks.

Glad you found them. For bank fishing you want to be somewhere on or near structure. Somewhere near deeper water such as underwater creeks or rivers. Places were there is a mix of rocky points and sand and/or red clay. My place had the perfect mix. One side of a rocky point bordered a sandy beach and bout 80 yards out was a deep hole that goes 80ft deep. Another side of the point was open to the main span and had a ledge that droped 60ft into an underwater river, and also bordered a beach. Typically the shoreline is a good indicator of what lies beneath the water.

I will say that although I wasn't out there the next morning, my guest was with a young kid and I was none too happy to hear of multiple guide boats that pulled right up to these bank fisherman and parked right in front of their cast.

Two weeks ago we got some big hits on top waters. Biggest was 6 pounder. It was on from about 8pm to 830ish. Will they still be on top memorial weekend?

Should have topwater action all the way into October. Some days are better than most.
