I'm one of the numerous utility residential clients that would want to learn a unique approach on how we can make use of energy efficiently and save on utility costs at the same time. Can you recommend one that could provide an innovative energy solutions for residential clients like us? How about you? Can you share some of your unique strategies in terms of utility savings?

Thanks for the reply. Actually, I raised the question because our community leaders proposed on us getting a tool that can manage our energy efficiency portfolios. I am quite skeptical on these for the main reason that not everyone committed on making this effort work. I'd rather do an individual conservation drive.

Kortney,
Take this for what it is worth. I have been in the electrical utility business for many years. As the electrical demand continues to evolve there are many company's striving for the most efficient methods. The electrical industry has changed so much in the last 10 years that it's unbelievable. From the generation process and the regulations, thru the design of transmission lines, and then on to the transformer and lastly the smart meters that deliver power on to the customer. With this industry in it's evolving state not all people will try to conserve power or look for the most efficient way to move forward no matter what process is put into practice. I feel that it is a good standard practice to monitor your electrical usage and see what areas need some attention. With all the electrical devices now that everyone has it's a shock at how much energy is used daily. This in example can be phone chargers left plugged in, coffee pots,on-demand hot water heaters and many other electrical devices. I recently did a meter test for a couple who said their bill was to high and we were charging to much. As I started the test I had them watch the demand meter and then I ask them to go inside and start unplugging things that wasn't a priority. They was shocked at what happened to the usage. Sometimes people just need to see what is actually going on. I would encourage you to take the individual conservative approach and also see if your utility offers an app or usage monitor so you can see what is the best way to become more efficient. We can all do better and as this industry advances there will be more efficient ways in the future to conserve energy.
