Ok. I'm sure this has been discussed before and I know I'll get numerous opinions.  What's considered to be a respectable distance from another boat while fishing?  For example one boat is anchored (live bait or slabbing) and I'm trolling using my trolling motor.  I want to be a good little fisherman on Texoma and don't want to p** off too many folks.   Also, is there a special distance I need to keep with regards to the Guides as well?  I do get the evil eye from time to time when I get remotely near them.

Let the opinions fly.  I've read the USCG safe distance from another vessel and I'm definitely well outside the range.

"operate PWC within 50 feet of another PWC, motorboat, vessel, platform, person, object, or shore except at headway speed without creating a swell or wake (Headway speed = Slow, idle speed, or speed only fast enough to maintain steerage);

If they are slabbing, stay out of casting range! 😎

Unfortunately, some folks will give you the evil eye even if they have to use binoculars to see you.

I personally never get within 50 feet if I'm running my TM.  I stay away more than 100 feet if I'm under power.  That way, I don't think anyone gets upset.....but then again......  😉

It could be another good idea to keep a distance while fishing.
