It is with sad heart that I have to post the ugly.

Joe Head and his buddy Brian and I headed out of High Port yesterday about 9 a.m.

We came back in about 1:30 p.m.

We fished north, east, south and west.

Marked fish every where we stopped.

Water temps varied between 51 and 53 depending on where we were.

We dead sticked all day.

Bubble gum, chartreuse, white ice, and electric chicken.

Lots of taps.

No fish boated.

We were the bugs.

End of post.

Ax,
You probably didn't catch any stripers because they didn't want to be grouped with catfish.[smile] Hope next trip is better.

Thanks for all the condolences.  Buddies of mine fished the SAME place yesterday and caught fish up to 27 inches on the SAME color schemes.  [smile]

Western...thanks for the order!!!

I've severely underestimated the response I'd get on the Bubble Bellies.  I have a big order coming in Tuesday.  Everyone will have their orders by next Thursday at the latest.

I ain't a big operation so my inventory sometimes doesn't cover the demand.....but unlike other industries....I keep the prices as low as possible.  But baby needs new shoes.  [smile]

Rowdy....so true.  I tried to get most of the catfish smell outta the boat Thursday afternoon but must not have succeeded.   Bummer......

Catfish eat striper scraps.  Do Stripers eat catfish scraps????

Capt Kurt taught me a new technique to try relative to catching more catfish.  I'm going to try that next time out..........it involves striper blood.  [smile]

My Sea Pro has a fish box that drains over board so the new technique will be possible without too big a mess in the boat.

Ax, I feel your pain. I have suffered also and my family mourns when I return home with no fish. They suffer by losing weight due to lack of food. I just eat another snickers.....

Not using any parts.  Just bleeding the stripers out.  The blood will run over board.  [smile]

Ron, I've been setting them out between 35 and 45 feet off the river channel.

I use a red solo cup filled with concrete as my weight.

Then, I have a 3 way swivel every 10 feet up the main line.

I've been baiting the bottom 3 hooks so bait is at about 40, 30, and 20 feet.

Most fish coming at 30 and 40 feet right now.

Good to know its okay to not catch fish.  Went out a few times last fall and did not produce.  Glad it happens to everyone. I guess that is what "balance" is for.  Makes the productive days that much sweeter.

Ax, the last two weekends we fished…we experienced some of that findin’em but can’t make’em bite deal…

Sittin’ on screens that make’ya say, “Oh yeah, now this is what I’m talkin’ about…”

And….they show very little, to no interest at all….thankfully it doesn’t happen very often….

Usually if’ya can find’em the battles more than half-over….

I guess you know what this means?

You’ll just have to get back out there and get that bad taste out of your mouth….

No Rowdy…..not talkin’bout the Catfish……the slow fishin’ trip….gotta get redemption….[smile]

Yeah....going to hit 'em again tomorrow.  Patrick McKannan and George Pratt are going with me.  I'm thinking about another area tomorrow.  I know fish are being caught out around Buncombe area but the water is stained (which is good meaning water coming in) but I don't have much confidence in myself in that color water.

So....headed to the main lake tomorrow.  Front coming in Wednesday so maybe with dropping BP fish will get over the lock jaw thing.  [smile]
