Took The Beast out for its inaugural striper trip.  Loco Pescado, Patrick McKannan George Pratt and myself.

We traveled far and wide.....no stripers.  I caught one LMB but they said it didn't count because it got off at the boat.  I guess my quick release technique didn't count.  [smile]

No problem finding fish but we could not get them to hit.  We fished at Shepherd and had several hits on dead sticking lures and sassys but no takers.  Water temperature out west in 25 feet of water was just over 50 degrees.

Glad to see that we might be avoiding another shad kill this year.  Got my fingers crossed.

Very enjoyable trip.  Good fellowship.  Patrick bought lunch at Napoli's which made it even better.  [smile]

I was wondering when you were going to put her in the water Joe. Yes if we can just get through February without severe cold fishing should be aweome this year. Oh and prolly just as well that green trash fish didn't make it on board.[smile]

Better a 'green trash fish' in the boat, rather than a 'slimy jug fish'.[biggrin]

Yes, a good friend George.   Just teasing with you.  Yes we did not do well there, and went all the way to Cedar Bayou.  My biggest thrill was seeing some old territory I used to fish several years ago.   I even received a call from an old fishing buddy, from Hooker Oklahoma, who fished with us long ago, and had a good reunion on the phone, discussing fishing, as usual.   I heard Ax had a new boat, but have not seen it.   I will be with my team in the BLT Striper Tournament, tomorrow, wearing my (thats a lie) 100 MPH coat and bibs, for this weekend, as heard it will be cold and rain later in the day.    Hope we have a good turn out.  My team came together, 2 from Oklahoma, one from Ft Hood, Texas, and one from Denison.   Have a good weekend everyone...JD

Jerry, that could be.  [smile]  He kept telling us where to go so we went.  Didn't matter.  [smile]

He even turned us down for lunch.  Patrick bought at Napoli's so I guess if it wasn't Patsy's George was passin'.  [smile]
