Bank fished from my normal spot on the east side of lake. Went out sunset Saturday and Sunrise Sunday. Not a single bite. Used big poppers and bucktail jig with white trailer. Water was muddy. Saw lots of carp and a few gar. Seemed to be some bait they were chasing. Saw a few shad jump. Saw some bass working bait, but was not setup for them. My 3 year old daughter, Ellie, managed a bite on good old worm and bobber.

Tried out my new offshore angler 7ft 6in redfish spinning rod I bought solely for long cast on the bank. It worked well, but not much better than my 7ft Ugly Fish Striper rod. New rod is much lighter though. I spooled with 30lbs braid. I was happy with the distance probably at least 100yards. Tried a new lure - 1oz kastmaster with bucktail. It cut threw the wind like a knife and did well staying just under the surface. I expect good results in the future off the bank with this. It should allow for long cast while appearing to be a much smaller bait. Anyone ever have good results with a kastmaster lure on Texoma?

I caught several box fish on a 3/8 oz.  kastmaster a couple of years ago along the rocks between Soldier and Caney.   They do cast like a bullet--guess thats how they got their name.
they are good for schooling Largemouth as well.
