Bait remains tough with the North winds. 3-5 a throw this morning but I stayed with them and ground out a couple hundred.
My group was a couple hours late arriving and I was afraid we may miss bird action. We headed out and I never saw the birds working but we did get on some good fish. We drifted with them and then anchored. Both methods produced. All fish came on live baits. Pulled close to 50 fish. 13 long fish but nothing over 8 lbs.
these fish are solid and healthy, full of baits.
I've seen some of the biggest schools of the year this week. Bout time.
Lots of box fish and I had to measure a good portion of them. It's been a while since I've had to do that.

Good job, James.  Fish seem to be all over the place and the fish being caught are healthy and full of shad!!  Good sign for the lake for sure!!

Sounds like the "bait" situation has changed dramatically on the lake, this true?

Great report James, you always find a way to get fillets in the boat[thumb]

Bait has been really easy since June, until this past week. Last month, I could get 200 in one throw in Catfish Bay and now, I have to run to other marinas. I'm getting 3-5 a throw this week, with the occasional 10 shot.  I only pulled 83 baits a couple of days ago, after throwing for 2 and 1/2 hours. My worst day for catching bait in years.  North winds and full moon didn't help.
I've got around 6 more trips this year, then I'm taking the boat off the water till March. I only need to catch bait 6 more times [tongue]
