Pulled out of Highport around 2PM and went west looking for fish. Found a lot of bird and surface action in the mouth of Big Mineral and proceeded to chase them for the next few hours. We were catching mostly 10" dinks, with an occasional box fish mixed in. Caught two sand bass and approximately 30 or so stripers. It stopped about 5PM when we looked north and saw a lot of birds. Headed over and hit the motherload. Nothing but 25" fish literally coming out of the water destroying the shad. We caught another dozen or so overs with the largest being 31" and 11.5 pounds. We kept a few that swallowed the lure. Great evening on Big Tex. Silver and blue Rattletraps and silver Zara Spooks did the trick.

I will post a pic of the big one later today.

Nice!!  Good to see you posting.

Next time you are up, let me know.  It's time to change my Yammie 4 stroke oil.  😉

Thanks for posting a report Boxman. I'm wanting to fish that area tomorrow and have requested info on water clarity in a separate post. If water is not fishable I would probably change plans to Eisenhower area. Glad you got some biguns and good to hear of some birds working. I love Fall fishing on Texoma!

Not sure if the water will stay clear over the next few days, but it was last night.

Axman, that oil is still in my boathouse with your name on it!

  Dave big fish.jpg

This is the big one from last night. 31" and 11.5 pounds

I told Dave that it was bait compared to this one I caught several years ago, and about 40 lbs ago... 😉

This one was caught in Buncombe several years ago in late November. It was 37.5" long and was a hog. We weighed it at 22lbs, but not sure that was correct with the one from last night being only 11.5. I told Dave his would be "bait" for this one... LOL.

Went back out Friday Oct 28 about 4pm. Same results in the same spot. All 12 or so overs returned to fight again.

Met a nice couple out there. Looks like my future with my wife...
