I don't use this one either, as a matter of fact it was stored in a boat barn in Port A for eight years. All the finish was flaking off and rats had chewed the cork up. It looked like it belonged in the dumpster so when I was moving to McKinney, I threw it in the dumpster at the boat barn. The next day I had a change of heart, went back and got it out. A year later I took it apart, sanded it down, cleaned up the original guides, put automotive clear coat on the rod, repainted the cast aluminum handle, installed new cork, and re wrapped the guides. It is not a professional job but the old 5000C that use to be on it back in the day went back on and it hangs on the wall in my home office, the closest thing that I have to a man cave.

That's the same reel I had on mine, I found the other one, it is the rod I caught my 27.3 striper on years ago.

I have one of those. I guess I should brush it off and mount one of my old 5000's on it. I can mount it next to my green box Lowrance flasher

Glad'ya had a change of heart.....nice lookin' restoration... I don't collect old things but I have quite a bit, as I struggle to throw anything away... Old Rods & Reels are especially hard for me to part ways with..... When'ya worked for a couple bucks an hour and had to save long & hard for a $39-$49 item in the late 70's... It just don't make sense to chunk it, least not to me.....so, still have several old Bantam 100's on Skyline Graphite Rods... I felt like I was in Tall Cotton with those rigs back in '79, '80....and so on....
