Went Saturday morning out of Highport and searched around the islands with my son Jack. Fished from first light until about 0930 and caught two stripers. The first one was a healthy 32" or so big fighter, and the second was about 6" long. We kept seeing small swirls all around us thinking it was bait that was being chased. Turns out is was about a million 6" stripes. Good for the future bite, and I know there is at least one big stripe still in the lake. Both returned to grow and prosper. Both were caught on a Wildeye in about 6' water around some stumps. We found huge bait balls all around the lake.

We were hammering the big fish until the flood but since then....nadda. Maybe they all went down the river like people are saying? With that said, there is plenty of bait and small stripers from what I can see. Good for the future. God willing, I will still be here... :-)

Good to hear there's lots of bait. A couple weeks ago I fished up at 377 and didn't mark any shad. What you have described is what I see at PK after the flood, lots and lots of small stripers and huge amounts of shad. Our shad spawned over and over this year and there were few fish to eat them. I caught bait yesterday like I have all year. Run up a slough, one short cast over a solid bank to bank wall of threadfins and pull the net in once I start seeing the silver dollar flashes. Only thing missing is legal fish to use them on.

Hello Ax. I have been around, just not much fishing, and no catching to report. On another note, I recently bought some Yamaha 4H oil. Problem is, I have a two stroke and didn't catch it until I opened it. About a $35 mistake. It is just sitting in my boathouse. If you are running a Yamaha 4 stroke, and want it, let me know. It is FREE.

My cell is 214-336-9511.

Thanks.  Let me know when you come back this way.  I'll take it.  [smile]
