Bait still easy and fishing still tough. Made the run to the damn (I mean dam) and shouldn't have wasted my gas. Only put one in the box. Back to washita and found a few. Watched the boat show form out in front of soldier. Decided to join. Picked up our first over and caught 10 more dinks. Guys using down riggers seemed to be doing well. Bait and slabs were producing just slow. High point is my Mom finally caught a couple. So good day again on the lake.

You don't need a downrigger, most fish are above the thermocline ( 40' ) If you get your lure down to 20' , you will catch fish between 0 and 30' deep. Best way to find fish is looking for schools of bait, and fish with a fishfinder. I like to troll because I like the cool breeze, changing scenery, and running the motor.

Not having any problem finding fish. Just an old bait fisher that as Kauna says needs to evolve. The big ones we are catching have all been right on the thermocline at 40ft. Still having fun with my folks. We're back on it again today. We'll see how it goes.

If you want to drag the bottom, try a umbrella rigged with 1oz jigs, on a long line.
