Went up Friday to check things out and went to the usual 6-9 pounder spot and picked up a striper about 7 pounds. I guess they only allow 1 in that spot because that is about the only thing I can get there. But I'll take it right now. Hung out in the river channel and got my shad for the morning in around 4 throws. Gotta love those deep hole cast nets.

Headed out at 5:30am and went north to my summer stomping grounds which has produced very well pre flood. Not so much now. Got some sand bass, couple of nice channel cats and a drum. Left there trolling and got a nice largemouth, very colorful.
Headed to my go to catfish spot and bam. They were turned on and got some nice blue cats and a 8 pounder. Good eating Maynard.
Went trolling and covered a lot of area. Marking a lot of fish but no dice. September is usually one of the worst months for fishing. I guess we'll see what happens when it cools off some.

What size net do you use for deeper water shad?

I just use a 7' since I come out of the Texas side. The deep hole nets have a 50' hand line which with a little practice you can use it anywhere.
