This is a sad situation. Looks like we'll be waiting a year or two for Texoma to come back. Similar problem at Possum Kingdom. I caught live shad yesterday and caught lots of stripers...all under 14 inches ( 18 inch legal here). Below the dam here, the locals carried the stripers out in five gallon buckets instead of coolers. There's a five striper limit here but some of those buckets I saw probably had twenty fish in them. I guess the game wardens write off the fish once they get in the river, as they will all starve anyway.

Maybe crappie fishing will pick up in Texoma now that the stripers all left for the river.

I fished the dam today and yesterday. Yesterday they started to chase bait for about 10 minutes and wouldn't touch anything I threw at them. Today, they didn't even show up.

I have fished the dam, Preston Point, and the North island.

I caught 1 5 inch large mouth.... Comes out to $1435 a pound.... Mornings on Texoma, priceless.

Yes....I have caught a few in the last month that were monsters....unfortunately, I caught them in open water about 20 feet deep.  Caught them all on my main line teaser hook while slabbing.........

I say unfortunately 'cause if they are out there running around in open water....ain't no stripers making 'em nervous...

Willy, I need training.  [smile]

Also, I have sent that guy several emails about lures (he wanted to buy local lures for his biz).  Never heard back.  Must be 'cause I'm from TX.  [smile]

I'm thinking of heading up North to the channel by the oil wells this weekend. Haven't heard any reports from that area.

Finally had a good day of fishing! It was pretty windy today but boy did we get into the sand bass. Went over to Fobb and trolled the rattle traps today and caught a lot of sand bass. I mean some big ole fatties too took home around 17 and threw back a bunch more than that. They wasn't the stripers I was hoping for but hey we had a blast and got some good eat's too what else can you ask for.
